Car driver dies after A96 crash with lorry

The crash happened on Wednesday morning

A 78-year-old car driver has died following a crash with a lorry in Aberdeenshire.

The collision happened near Huntly on the A96 Aberdeen to Elgin road at about 11:00 on Wednesday. It involved a black Skoda Kamiq and a white lorry.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police Scotland appealed for witnesses to them.

Sgt Pete Henderson said: "Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the man that has died.

"Thanks to the of the public that stopped to provide assistance and other road s for their patience."

He added: "Our investigation to establish the full circumstances is ongoing and I would urge anyone with information, or who may have dash-cam footage from the area, to get in touch."
