Death of man in North Lanarkshire street 'not suspicious'

Police investigating the death of a 57-year-old man in a street in North Lanarkshire have said there are no suspicious circumstances.

The body was discovered at about 08:35 on Saturday in the Calder Road area of Bellshill.

Part of the road was closed to drivers and pedestrians while forensic experts experts examined the scene.

A police spokesperson said a report would be sent to the procurator fiscal and the public were being asked to avoid the area of possible until the road was reopened.
