Julius Caesar coins find new Essex home

A collection of almost 1000 gold coins thought to be linked to the era of Julius Caesar, is the largest recorded hoard of Iron Age gold coins ever found in Britain. Thought to have been buried 2,000 years ago, the coins were unearthed in Great Baddow in 2020 and have been described as "a nationally significant discovery".

Claire Willetts is the Curator at the Museum of Chelmsford, where the coins will be on permanent display from next summer.
